3D Paper Box

22 Sep

Do you know the problem with surprises? Sometimes the person you are trying to surprise finds a solution before you can bring over the surprise. This story has very little to do with the topic of this post except for what I used it for. My mom was in charge of a bridal shower this weekend, and when her cinnamon rolls failed to rise I tried to surprise her by making her some mini cheesecakes to put on display. The problem was, she already raced to the store and bought some goodies… a lot of goodies… too many goodies… to replace the cinnamon rolls with. So I had 50+ mini cheesecakes to get rid of. SO! I jumped onto the Silhouette Online store and found a cutsie box I had purchased a while back, and used it to deliver some treats to some friends. The 3D paper box design I used is by Samantha Walker (love her!), Silhouette design ID 42311. It actually is a 3D paper box CARD (you’ll have to click that link to see what I mean) but I used it just as a box.

I cut one sheet of one pattern, and then a second sheet of paper using a matching color or pattern then swapped the band for each box so that it was contrasting.
3D Paper BoxI really wasn’t sure how many mini cheesecakes I’d be able to fit in one box, but I cut 1 box a 12×12 sheet of paper and it fit 4 mini cheesecakes in it. I spread the design to fit the width of the paper as best I could. I did have scraps, but that is ok. I use scraps for other things.

I laid a square of wax paper at the bottom of the box, and placed my mini cheesecakes in them (I made the mini cheesecakes with a mini muffin tin, if that helps you get an idea of the size here).

I’m super excited to go pass out these cute little boxes. Way more fun than a tubberware or bagged plate of treats!!!
