Cassette Tape Card

25 Apr

Do you have a music lover in your life? This card is perfect for bringing back the old school when sending a note! I so happen to have a very special person with a big 18th birthday coming up. I met her when I was serving a church mission in Atlanta, Georgia. My one and only baptism before being sent home on medical leave. She and her family will always hold a special place in my heart- and I’m so grateful to still have contact with them over the years! She is a huge music lover. Many of my memories of her involve her dancing or head bopping to her iPod or CDs. Being many many state apart now, it is hard to send big gifts but I wanted to send her a gift card for her upcoming birthday. What better gift card for a music lover than an iTunes one, right? So to go right along with the music theme, I made a Cassette Tape Card to send.

So clever, right? Takes you right back to the 80’s? Okay so she’s a little young for an 80’s example- but it’s still a fun card!  It wasn’t hard to make because it was a Silhouette design I purchased- design ID 10572 “Cassette Tape Shape Card” by Alaa’ K (her website, or facebook– you’re going to want to follow her, she gives freebies in many formats so even if you don’t have a Silhouette machine you can still use her digital designs!).

It took 6 cuts and a sketch pen draw. When making cards, I love using paint chips instead of cardstock. Obviously, the bigger pieces have to be cut out of cardstock because paint chips just don’t come that big. Paint chips are free at local hardware stores so I always grab a couple when passing through. For this card, I used pink and white cardstock, and the following paint chips for the other pieces: ace paint red pizzazz f11, glidden sunbaked orange WGO05glidden caribbean sea WGB13. I like to include the names of these colors just in case they have inspired you paint wise 😉

So just like that, I’ve got the perfect card to go with the iTunes gift card to mail off. And really, you can put any message on the cassette tape sticker note.
