Cupcake Cards

12 Sep

I made my first homemade card! I started my Card Board on pinterest a while back and there sat some inspiration for a while. When my aunt asked me to make some for her, it was a great excuse to get creative. The only bummer is that my supplies are still lacking. Some day I’ll have a plethora of paper to choose from and it will match better than what I have. I made 2 cupcake cards using cardstock, paper, ribbon and a button.

Cupcake Card with Layering Ribbon

This one I made with a chevron background, just to test out my skills with using the Cameo for sketch and cut. I don’t own a printer, so Cameo Sketch pens are as close as I get 🙂

Cupcake Card with Layering Ribbon

I love the layering of the ribbon to make the top of the cupcake. It was easy and really gives the card a three dimensional look. I used a Silhouette Store design by Samantha Walker called “Card Cupcake”, but only used the cupcake liner part of it. I used the knife tool to cut away everything else. I also duplicated the cupcake liner, right clicked to “release compound path”, and deleted all the cut outs from the middle in order to get a solid background for my cupcake liner. As you can see, I used the opposites for each card. One has the pink background with the purple cupcake liner, the other vise versa.
This was a fun 30 minute paper craft. What birthday cards have you done? (No seriously, this isn’t just a question to end a post. I want to see what you’ve done….)
