DIY Mickey Lights

7 Dec

This one comes to you from the biggest Mickey fan I know- my aunt Nancy! There are two things my aunt Nancy loves, first Mickey, second Dr. Pepper. She came up with a way to combine her two passions for a holiday decor, a DIY Mickey Lights display.

What you’ll need:
35-40 Soda Can Bottoms (depending on how big you’d like it. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to cut them in half)
E-6000 glue (or other strong adhesive)

This light display is so easy it is summed up in three photos (obviously, there are more steps than three, but the major steps are only 3).

2. Drill Holes in bottom (you’ll be surprised how easy this is too. You could easily do it with a hammer and nail if you do not have a drill)
3. Glue cans together in mickey head shape.

Allow the glue to dry overnight. Once you stand it up, it needs to be completely dry to hold the weight of it.
4. Using a string of lights, slip one light bulb into each hole of the cans.
That’s it!

When she first told me how she made it (with soda cans) I laughed and called it a Redneck Christmas decoration- but once I saw it I immediately thought it was SO cool looking! It is adorable sitting in the window, on the table, or out on the deck.

Did you do anything to make the edges of the can dull?

Fold them over by heating slightly so they are bendable
