I’ve been waiting to do this project for a long time. I was waiting until I could find the perfect fabric for the perfect image. I found a 99 cent fabric squares at Wal-Mart that when I looked at it, I immediately thought “My koi fish image!”… of course referring to the image on Silhouette that I purchased for 99 cents. The artist is Sarah Bailey and the piece is called “koi carp fish”. It is literally the only one that comes up when you search “koi” in the Silhouette store. I am going to show you my Fabric Koi Fish T Shirt!
What you’ll need:
Heat ‘N Bond fabric bonding
a t shirt
your cameo (or other cutting machine… or do it by hand with an x-acto knife if you dare)
To start, I highly recommend bonding your fabric first (before cutting). Doing it by cutting fabric first and then applying heat n bond is incredibly hard and you may ruin your iron. Yes, you have more waste this way, but trust me when I say it is easier. Just follow your Heat n Bond instructions by ironing the fabric on one side.
Peel off your paper and put the fabric on your Cameo cutting board. Cut your image. Weed as you would vinyl or paper. Transfer to plain t-shirt.
I ironed 2 seconds on the front to get a small bond before turning the shirt inside and ironing the inside for 10 seconds. I really wasn’t expecting her to be so excited about a new shirt, but when I held it up she wanted to put it on right away. I win 🙂
