Homemade Fruit Snacks

On my Sweets board, I had pinned a recipe for Homemade Fruit Snacks I wanted to try for Jolene. She is a huge fruit snacks fan. I won’t pretend that even though the store bought ones say “real fruit” on them that that means they are healthy- I know they are not! But they are an easy snack for those mid-day munchies. I almost feel like if I could do homemade fruit snacks, at least I could control more what was in it. I had unflavored gelatin left over from my experiment making homemade gel window clings, so testing out this recipe was already in my favor. Here’s what you’ll need:

3 oz. of FLAVORED gelatin – I used red raspberry
1/2 oz of UNflavored gelatin
1/3 cup of water

Directions:
Sprinkle the gelatin over the water in a small saucepan.  Heat over medium heat and stir until gelatin is completely dissolved.  Pour into molds and allow to set at least 20 minutes.

Note: at LEAST 20 minutes. I let mine sit for an hour. They popped right out of my mold and were a delicious treat! I highly recommend a small mold, my 1 inch hearts were just too big. The bigger the mold the longer they take to set.
