How To Make A Toilet Paper Roll Holder

10 Jul

I am starting to get tired of my unfinished (decor wise) rooms in our house. I blame it on moving from a small apartment into a home. All of a sudden all the decor we have been blessed with look so small in a real sized room. Recently, I noticed that we have no cute place to store toilet paper rolls. They often are just lined up on top of the tank of the toilet, or just along the floor or counter. I looked at purchasing one of those toilet paper roll holders- those tall tower things. Not only were they pricey, none of them match the look I wanted to go for. I decided to set out and make my own. I’m going to show you how to make a toilet paper roll holder, Mandy style.

It started with an empty Sam’s Club Formula can (thank you to my sister for saving one for me). I grabbed some textured cardstock that would match the color in the bathroom, and used one of the wooden knobs left over from my Gumball Machine project.

Covered it in the textured card stock and glued a painted wooden knob to the top.

I’m contemplated adding a vinyl embellishment, maybe a flourish or something. But I really enjoy the clean look of no embellishment so I feel torn.

Please tell me, what do you think?

This is really cute! I love that you made it out of an everyday item too.

I totally know what you mean about moving and then noticing all the things about your decor you want to change!

I have used all kinds of empty containers… some I have painted, some I have covered up with textured wallpaper and few with raffia …maybe they will inspire you in some way. Sometime the simpleness of things is the best! great idea on the knob for the lid!

That’s a brilliant idea, the wooden knob on top really finishes it off. Could also be used for other things as well.

That is genius! My formula cans I get aren’t that big. I need to find something else.
