Paper Pumpkin Centerpiece

1 Nov

This year for my mom’s ward Halloween party, we decided to go big but simple. Giant paper pumpkin centerpieces stood on every table, and miniature sizes joined the food tables. This centerpiece was so easy and was such an eye catcher!

What you’ll need per pumpkin:

1 poster board, cut into 2 3/4 inch strips
2 green leaves (about 6 inches long)
1 brown cardstock (about 8 inches long by 3 inches tall)
2 feet of raffia

Glue 2 ends of poster board strips together, forming a circle. You should have 8 strips per poster board. 2 strips glued together per circle = eventually, 4 circles will be 1 pumpkin.
4 Paper Rings = 1 Pumpkin
Glue each ring crossing over the other with the same center point…

Glue 2 Rings Perpendicular

Glue 3rd Ring across all with same center

Glue 4th (final) ring across all 3 with same center point

For the tops of each pumpkin, you will use the brown card stock to create the stem. If you fold your brown paper accordion style with 10 folds, you will end up with a star shape when you connect the two ends.

Pumpkin Tops

Glue all of your pumpkin toppings to the top.
Making Paper Pumpkin Centerpieces
DIY Halloween or Harvest Centerpieces

Your centerpiece is large enough to make a statement but short enough to carry conversation across the table. If you are planning a party for a large group with many tables (say like, a ward or stake function) this DIY pumpkin centerpiece is also very affordable, cashing in at under $2 a piece!Paper Pumpkin Centerpiece

You can also adjust the size of your pumpkin by cutting the strips shorter and/or thinner. We love the way these fat pumpkins blopped right onto each tablePaper Pumpkin Centerpiece

We made smaller ones for the buffet line and dessert table as well.
