Meatloaf has a bad rap, I feel. On TV and in movies it is always made to look like a ghetto meal, or food for the stingy. Most often used in scenes where the family has a dozen kids or a large family gathering with a ton of mouths to feed. As if it is a meal of the cheap, or a meal to dread. I’m not even sure why, because I LOVE meatloaf. Growing up, my dad was always trying new meatloaf recipes. I don’t even remember 1 that I didn’t like. So when I found and pinned a Souperior Meatloaf Recipe, I was very intrigued. No, that isn’t a spelling error. This is SOUPerior. It is made with Lipton Onion Soup mix! It was time to actually try something from my Recipes board on pinterest!
(My take on it)
1 lb. ground beef
1 package Onion Soup mix
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons Ketchup
Yields: 1 standard loaf (feeds 4-6)
In a large bowl, combine all of the listed ingredients. Shape into a loaf and place in loaf pan. Bake at 350 for an hour or until done.
Simple as that! It’s moist and delicious. The onion soup mix does all the flavoring you need, taking the guess work out!
