Can you feel it heating up? Summer is rapidly making its big debut here in Phoenix and it has us ready to seal and protect our outdoor wood structures and decor. If you remember when we moved into this house, we had a clean slate backyard. We soon found ourselves adding features and structures that would need protection and preservation by specialty seals and stains like Flood® Wood Care. Let's take a look at the things we'll be sealing and caring for again this year, starting with our Pergola:

It was really important for us to seal this wood to protect it from crazy weather we might get here in Arizona. From excesssive heat to gnarly monsoons, we now have sealed this wood to help preserve it- plus it looks nice stained!

Following our Pergola, we installed a wooden deck:

Once again we found ourselves needing to protect our new wooden structure from the elements of our surroundings. Staining our deck took a little more work than just the pergola. We had a larger area to cover and because it will be walked and played on, we needed it extra protected.
After two huge projects, we decided to take it down a scale and we turned empty tree crates into DIY planters- but again, they are wood and needed protection! Especially because they would be housing plants that would be consistently watered!

As I sat and thought about the things we would be resealing this year, it dawned on me that besides the obvious reasons to stain the wood features of the backyard, there was another project I worked on that required stain. More for a cosmetic reason than a necessity, but how about my Picket Fence Planter out front?

This small planter may not have needed to be stained, but it sure did at that 'Mmph" factor to the finished product! Any wood piece, whether big as a deck or small as a planter can be stained. The Flood Wood Care Staining Made Simple guide can help you decide which prep and finish products your project needs. It is easy and thorough- check out the steps I took to find my right prep and finish: The start of the process is just about where you'll be shopping (to give you stock options) and what you'll be staining….

After you get through the start, you get the fun part- deciding what and how much you need!

And finally you get results!

Easy, right?! I loved it. No more guess work and staring at the shelves deciding what did what and for what! 😉 Flood products are designed to restore, protect and beautify natural woods and other surfaces. They can be used on all different wood types. Ready for some sweepstakes fun?
